When you are teaching students in high school the action that you deal with mostly is inappropriate behavior as well as reduced study skills. Reinforcement such us social, exercise, physical, consumable and harmful strengthening should be applied in making sure that the rules are followed. Instead of appreciating good behavior with physical reward one could use tokens. As backup reinforcement the tokens can be used. If the students are more advanced in age you should use contingency contracts. The contact should be drafted by you and the student saying that when they behave appropriately they will be rewarded. Behavior can also be taught by shaping, shaping involves taking steps in showing good behavior. This technique can either be used to guide new behavior or reinforce the ones that already exist.

Use models to show the kind of behavior that you need from the student. In order for the rest of the students to understand when one of them has good behavior use them as an example. If you are dealing with a particular student use people of their age to teach the kind of behavior they should have. If you do this it will work even for the students meaning you will have achieved more. The students should be part of coming up with a behavioral program, for example, making the goals, being responsible of themselves not to make mistakes, doing a personal evaluation of how they have behaved and the reward they should get. Parents should also be part of the behavior management program, so it is useful.
